At the moment, what is the percentage of students in IGB International School that go on to pursue the DP after MYP? What are the factors influencing their decision?
Most of the (80-90%) students will go one to DP and few to CP. We also gain a number of students every year joining the school in Grade 11, the start of DP/CP.
Is this the same as A level and can it be adopted without the PYP and MYP?
Just like the A-level the DP will be in the last 2 year of high school. However, the Programme is vastly different from A-levels. If you have a look at the slides you will see that DP is focusing to develop that whole learner and has therefore includes number of elements that A-levels do not have.
What are the qualifications for the teachers to teach DP? Also, do you recommend the same teachers teaching MYP to teach DP as well?
Each DP teacher need to go to a 3 day face to face or 1 month online workshop. The school needs to be accredited, just like with the MYP. I would say that it is recommended to have teachers teach both in the MYP and DP, as this will allow a very smooth transition for students from one programme to the next.
