Sodium Na+ and Chlorine Cl- create Sodium Chlorine NaCl, which is an Ionic bond because Sodium is positive and Chlorine is negative, opposite charges attract each other. Na+ needs to give away one electron to be stable, and Cl- needs one more electron to be stable, therefore they bond.
